History
The Corner of 13th & 13th
The area was originally residential. Sometime around 1909, three houses on what is now the wooden 2000 Howard area were torn down and a warehouse was built for International Harvester.
Seaman-Patrick Paper Co. moved into the building around 1925, operating from the timber-framed structure for decades. The company name was painted on the water tower, marking their presence in the Corktown industrial district.
Around 1957, the 3-story concrete addition was built, creating the current 2000 Howard Street address. The Mid-Century Modern exterior styling reflects that era of expansion.
Seaman-Patrick moved out sometime in the 2000s, and the building was then used as storage. The original timber-framed structure and the modern concrete addition remain as a testament to Detroit's industrial heritage.
2000 W. Lafayette Street was built sometime between 1961 and 1981, adding another significant property to the complex.
